Better late then never

So much has happened since the last time I blogged. School started a bit bumpy. Amy started a new school so it took her a while to get settled, but now she absolutely loves it. Nathaniel went to grade 1, in the same school, but didn’t seem to settle as well. It was so stressful but now he loves it. I can’t believe it has taken me so many months to blog again. Since the kids have started school again I don’t have as much time as I did last year. Fetching them by 12:15 doesn’t give me much of a work day. Back to crafts, I have been working on a few things: Invites for my birthday; 2 presents for 2 different kids and Mom’s who care gifts. The invite I’ve done is really cute and my second choice. My first choice was a 3D shoe which I saw at skip to my Lou. I just couldn’t find the right paper that was A4 and also the colour I wanted. In the end I went with a corset shape and designed around that. I got the paper from a place called ‘Paper chain’. They are in Pinetown, just by Walto...

Christmas is not over yet.....

I hope that you all have a had a fantastic and wonderful Christmas. I learnt, this Christmas, is to not make plans so far in advance. Here is how the story goes. Last year I had made plans with my sister in law that we would spend 2009 Christmas with us, as we would have the younger of the children and then 2010 Christmas would be with them, as they would have the younger of the children. Of course their Little Miracle decide that she wanted to be born one week before Christmas, 2009. Needless to say we didn't see them all that year for Christmas. Then on to this year. Three days before Christmas I noticed that Nathaniel had a 'pimple' on his forehead. I thought that he was a bit young to be having things like that. The next day I noticed it had popped and also that he had lots of spots on his back. I thought that maybe it was chicken pox, as half his grade came down with it before the end of school, but he seemed ok. He was swimming and playing as usual. Well, the next d...

Christmas

I love Christmas. It is such a fantastic time of year. My favourite parts are the gift giving and spending time with the family. I love giving people gifts, it really is my favourite part. I like to make all my gifts as I think handmade is always more special and more from the heart. In Durban, on Christmas day, we are normally swimming and eating Christmas lunch/dinner in our costumes. I don't mind, it's nice relaxing by the pool and enjoying the time with the family. This year, for lunch, we are having turkey, ham, potato salad and a mixed salad. Very awesome, very simple. I'm not into spending all of Christmas day in the kitchen. Onto the gifts: For the teachers this year I used an idea from Skip to My Lou. http://www.skiptomylou.org/?s=plant+picks The file you download is great, as you can change the name to your child's name and print it out. I printed it out onto card; laminated it; cut it out, it's really hard cutting a circle perf...

Craft market - Lambert Road Baptist

Yesterday I was at a craft market at Lambert Road Baptist Church. The day started out so hot! It also ended hot. It was the first hot day we had in a few days. Lucky for us we were in a hall, so no sunburn! Nicholas had made me such wonderful peg boards to display some of my items and to give us more space on the table. The market started out very quietly, but a few people started coming in. I sold quite a few things. The crayon rolls, tissue holders, taglets and note books always being the most popular. The other things that I love are the Christmas tins. The Santa and the Snowman. I also have reindeer but they've already been sold. I sold a Santa and I was so happy. I use the tins to either put cutlery or treats in. They are also nice as a hamper, which we did last Christmas. We put in mince pies, shortbread, choclates and other little things. I also have made Roll-up Kitchen playmats. People seem to love them but never buy them, I guess they need some tweaking. There wer...

New Fabric!

I went to buy some fabric for an order and came back with much more than I actually needed. So many exciting fabrics. It was so reasonably priced and I just couldn't say no. I've already made so many taglets, and sold some too. I think I might make some crayon rolls as well. I also bought some spongebob and hello kitty, but that's for my little ones.

My first Post

This is my first post ever and hoping that it won't be the last. I wanted to have a blog to show off all the things that I create. I love all sorts of crafts. I'm always got some new idea that I want to try out. So look out for more exciting posts.
